Robert's Chili Chant Helps Win Spirit Award

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, Common Ground won first place in the Spirit Award Contest at the 23rd annual Tustin Street Fair and Chili Cook-off. Throughout the afternoon Robert Fields performed live at the keyboard. He sang songs ranging from familiar old-time country western songs to 'Route 66' and even songs by the Beatles. His original 'Chili Chant' was the hit of the event. When Common Ground claimed the first prize trophy at the awards ceremony one of the judges said, "Hey, where's your piano player? We just love that chili song!"
Robert's rousing music provided the perfect opportunity for line dancing, chorus lines and swing dancing. Folks stopped by the booth to enjoy not only the 'special blend' chili but the sizzle of the keyboard and hot harmonica played by a talented Common Grounder. Even passersby got in the swing of things when they stopped by to sing and dance along.
